Tedburn St Mary 1st started off so well with the boys playing some unbelievable football in the first 15 minutes with Exmouth struggling to get near us. We continued to play through the lines with Brayden Morris bossing the midfield.  In truth all lads seem to be on top of their game with the back three Tim, Cal and Gav looking solid and attacking the ball well.

We created a host of chances with the wide men (Aidan and Josh giving us some great width and with the energetic and quality of Leighton and Ethan up top it was going to be a long afternoon for Exmouth. Our first great chance came when Leighton shut the keeper down and robbed him of the ball to play a nice ball to Joe who took a great touch but hit their defender on the line. Joe had another chance but hit the post.

Exmouth were very direct and looked for their danger player upfront who worked tirelessly to try and get a foothold in the game. Exmouth took the lead against the run of play when they converted a corner. It was a poor goal to concede.

Half time 1-0

Second half started in a similar way, with Tedburn taking control; we created chance after chance and with some good defending and poor finishing kept the score to 1-0 to Exmouth. With an hour gone Leighton picked up the ball 30 yards from goal and spotted the keeper off his line and hit an unstoppable shot into the top bins.

This gave us some belief and we went to try and get the winner; the game started to become more open and with Gav off injured this did leave us weaker at the back and Exmouth started to create some chances too. It was their danger man (number 6) who chased onto another long ball that got his reward with some good fortune got their 2nd of the afternoon.

A tough one to take for all but the lads given the effort they put in but will need to learn from this moving forward; We need to stop conceding silly goals and become more clinical in front of goal.
